Hybrid Polymeric-Inorganic Fibrous Mats For Applications In Sensing And Environmental Control
Integrated synthetic approaches based on combination of electrospinning with hydrothermal, sol-gel or chemical vapour deposition techniques will be evaluated to obtain multifunctional hybrid polymeric-inorganic mats. A complete characterization of the produced materials will be performed by using complementary techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-rays Diffraction (XRD), Termogravimetry (TGA). The ability of these mats to act as high surface area active scaffolds for application in sensing and contaminants degradation by Advanced Oxidation Processing (AOP) for water purification will be studied by UV-Vis and Fluorescence spectroscopies.
