Analysis of Brassica plants as nutraceuticals

The key of the internship will be the biochemical characteristics of Brassica as nutraceuticals. The trainee's job will be to collect brassica plant samples from

the surroundings and botanical garden at the University of Catania and to prepare them for chemical analysis. The pro-health nature of the plant will be

initially assessed on the basis of the content of bioactive compounds such as glucosinolates, polyphenols including flavonoids. The main technique used will be HPLC.

The samples will be transported also to the sending institution for more detailed studies.
