Abstract

SINTESI (Intelligent and Secure Cyber-Physical Systems for Healthcare, Industry, and Society) is an industrial research and experimental development project aimed at developing intelligent, resilient, and secure platforms for digital health, Industry 5.0, and social security applications. Building upon the results of the FAIR and SERICS ecosystems, the project integrates advanced technologies in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cognitive robotics, explainable AI, and foundation models to create cyber-physical systems capable of operating in complex and safety-critical environments. In the healthcare domain, SINTESI will develop AI-based tools for clinical decision support, early diagnosis, and multimodal analysis of medical imaging, EEG, ECG, and wearable data. In the industrial domain, the project will develop collaborative robotics systems and human-in-the-loop intelligent platforms based on multimodal models and advanced conversational interaction. In the area of social security, SINTESI will develop AI platforms for misinformation detection, synthetic content analysis, and cognitive security protection. Particular attention will be devoted to reliability, interpretability, robustness, and security of AI systems, with the goal of achieving high technological readiness levels (TRL 7-8) and enabling deployment in real-world operational environments.
