Scena Erasmus International Theatre Lab at the University of Catania
The University Theatre Centre (CUT) of the University of Catania, is pleased to announce a call for applications to participate in the Scena Erasmus International Theatre Lab, which will take place in Catania from October 29 to December 17, 2025, and will culminate in a final public performance.
As part of its commitment to the EUNICE European University Alliance, under Subtask 3.3.3, Task 3 of Work Package 3 of EUNICE4U project, the University Theatre Centre (CUT) offers 4 grants of €1,000 each to support the participation of four students from EUNICE partner universities (excluding students enrolled at UNICT).
The international theatre labs, to be led by professional actresses, will train participants in acting and original playwriting during weekly meetings led in Italian, English and Spanish, as well as daily rehearsals on stage.
This initiative is part of CUT’s broader mission to promote intercultural dialogue, artistic expression, and cultural engagement through the performing arts. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant creative cultural environment, collaborate with peers from across Europe and beyond, and contribute to a unique theatrical production that embodies the values of the EUNICE alliance.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme at a EUNICE partner university;
- Demonstrate a strong interest in theatre, performing arts or intercultural collaboration;
- Be available to reside in Catania and participate in all scheduled activities from November 12 to December 17, 2025; Be able to actively participate in rehearsals and the final performance.
Selection criteria
Applications will be evaluated by the CUT Management Committee based on:
- Motivation and interest in the project.
- Artistic or cultural background (if any).
- Intercultural and collaborative skills.
- Foreign language proficiency.
Efforts will be made to ensure diversity and broad representation among participants from the EUNICE alliance to foster meaningful intercultural exchange.
