Course Overview

The Communications Engineering MSc programme is designed for high-level professionals coping with technological innovation as a result of constant research and development, in either the public or the private sector.

All the electronic and IT knowledge gained throughout the first three years of students’ BSc will be applied to a broader understanding of key aspects concerning information technology design, integration, management, optimization and modelling of ever-evolving technological systems, not least in their joined elements and components.

Ample attention is paid to upgrading an extensive range of skills to be employed to wireless and aerial design, due to the international presence of corporations and multinational companies of the wireless communications sector and in view of telematic and multimedia service market trends.

A training pathway has been mapped out to help students through two types of curricula:

  • Communication Networks and Services.
  • Communication Technologies and Systems.

Educational Goals

All teachings will be delivered in English in three learning macro-areas:

  • the acquisition of sector-based skills for the processing and transmission of digital signals;
  • design of wireless, satellite and aerial devices;
  • design and management of networks for telecommunication, electronic and multimedia services.

Postgraduates in communications engineering will be expected to:

  • understand the high degree of complexity of information engineering issues by taking an interdisciplinary approach involving theoretical key factors based on mathematics and on other basic core subjects, as far as science is concerned;
  • have a theoretical and scientific background around information engineering in order to identify efficient and sustainable solutions in line with reliability, quality service and optimization of resources;
  • envision, plan, design and manage complex and innovative ICT systems with their own respective processes and services;
  • have the ability to carry out highly complex experiments concerning the transmission of signals and information management from and within networks of different nature;
  • communicate well in at least one European language besides Italian.
