Course Overview

The Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering aims to educate students to be highly professional when coping with electrical energy production, distribution and efficiency. Special attention is placed to primary energy sources, energy conversion and control of electrical systems.

Postgraduate students with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering will be able:

  • to formulate their ideas in mathematical terms;
  • to create modelling components for production, transmission and use of electrical energy;
  • to address complex problems and issues in relation to electrical engineering;
  • to come up with innovative solutions;
  • to both project and develop electrical plants for industrial or civil purposes, by also using automated systems and strategies;
  • to design and use power electronic converters, machines and electrical drives;
  • to design and supervise the realization of systems for the generation of electrical energy from both conventional and alternative sources;
  • to work as a team member in order to design systems that require a multidisciplinary approach.

Throughout this degree great emphasis will be placed on core subjects such as electrotechnology, electrical systems, machines and measures whereby students will gain a much deeper understanding of electromagnetic fields and circuits, machine operations and electrical systems, materials for electrical engineering, planning and operation of electrical energy systems, electronic devices and lab instrumentation, power electronics, industrial automation. A significant part of this degree path is devoted to practical experience (especially in design-based courses), so as to both make stronger and enhance students’ theoretical knowledge. Candidates for the Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering will have to be tested as far as their skills in general and their writing skills too.
