Course Overview

The MA in Philosophical Sciences lasts two years. After the first year, which is the same for all students, it is possible to choose between a historico-philosophical curriculum or a philosophico-scientific curriculum. The course aims to give students an in-depth knowledge of philosophy, covering historical, theoretical, moral, logical, epistemological, aesthetic, linguistic and political issues. It also provides students with a good background in the pedagogical and psychological domains, and makes students acquire advanced expertise, both theoretical and historico-philosophical.

The skills promoted by the course will allow students to teach philosophy or to carry out research on philosophy. Alternatively, the acquired skills can be applied to the following professional domains: cultural institutions; the media; philosophical counselling; human resources; the publishing industry; journalism.

In addition to attending lessons, students will have the chance to write and discuss texts, to participate in seminars, and to attend laboratory activities. Students are also required to write a final dissertation, whose preparation will give them the opportunity to learn how to produce a scientific text according to the methods and criteria relevant to the disciplinary domain to which the dissertation belongs.

A research stay at a foreign university – through the Erasmus+ programme and other international mobility programmes – is an integral part of the opportunities offered by the MA. The course also includes internships having the objective of helping students establish contacts in the employment market.
