Course Overview

The degree course has a training profile aimed at providing and building general knowledge and specific theoretical, critical-interpretative and professional skills suitable for the correct and sustainable management and planning of the territory and the landscape, with specific reference to the rural and extra-urban space, to natural areas, public and private green areas, and to the environment. Furthermore, the training course will pay particular attention to the protection and reorganization of the territory, the prevention of hydrogeological instability and the defense of natural resources, water and soil, from pollution sources and from over-exploitation for anthropic purposes.

Educational Goals

The training path is characterized by a strong multidisciplinary nature that will allow graduates:

  • to know and interpret the nature and evolution of the territory, also with reference to socio-economic characteristics;
  • to know the plant associations that characterize the territory and the Mediterranean landscape;
  • to manage natural ecosystems, agro-ecosystems with a strong environmental and landscape vocation and public and private green spaces;
  • to know the techniques of territorial and landscape planning, as well as the regulations and technical tools for planning infrastructural assets;
  • to know the tools for the governance and the sustainable development of the environment, for evaluating the effects of planning and management territorial and environmental resources and to know how to analyze and understand the transformation processes involved in the land use;
  • to know the hydrology and how to manage the events of hydrogeological instability of the agroforestry territory;
  • to know how to apply tools of modern geomatics for the analysis and cartographic representation of the territory and the environment;
  • to know methods and techniques for a correct and sustainable management of water resources and protection of water bodies from point sources of pollution;
  • to know tools and techniques for the recovery and enhancement of rural buildings and for new building insertions with eco-sustainable characteristics;
  • to know technologies, machines and plants for the management of the territory and the sustainable production of energy.

The articulation of the degree program includes a first group of basic disciplines, a second group of characterizing disciplines and a third group of related disciplines that complete the student's education, for a total of 146 CFU (ECTS).

The training course is divided into a broad base of Common Teachings (96 Ects) and two Curricula (50 Ects) respectively named: Landscape Planning and Protection and Enhancement of the Territory. As part of the "Other activities" (34 Ects), the educational system includes 12 ECTS for self-selected training activities, 6 ECTS for training activities for the preparation of the final exam, 5 credits for the knowledge of the foreign language (English) and 11 ECTS for further training activities (computer science and automatic design, training and orientation internship, other useful knowledge for entering the world of work).

The course can therefore be divided into three main learning areas: common teaching area, curriculum area Landscape Planning and curriculum area Protection and Enhancement of the Territory. The first area represents the common ground for the two professional paths identified, the second qualifies the knowledge of the student who will follow the professional profile oriented to the landscape planning and the management of green areas, while the third area characterizes the professional path more oriented towards the environment protection from pollution and the requalification of the rural territory.

The teaching activities are based on lectures and practical applications supplemented by laboratory activities. The implementation of practical-applicative internship, study trips and seminars, are aimed at enriching the professional baggage of students, for a total of 180 university credits.

Each student is assigned to a tutor belonging to the teaching staff, to whom he can address, throughout the training course, for an organization and professional orientation. For the integrated courses, the responsible teacher is indicated to whom the student can address in order to solve any difficulties in learning and finding the study material.
