Erasmus+ and International Traineeships

These guidelines are addressed to university students of all levels (Ph.D.candidates included), se-lected for a traineeship mobility period under the EU Erasmus+ or other international programmes at the University of Catania. The programmes enable students to spend their traineeship period in  university offices, research structures and/or in companies/organizations collaborating with the University of Catania through previous specific agreements, under joint supervision.

Selected students receive an Erasmus+/International grant from their own institution and the train-eeship period is fully recognized in their academic career. The traineeship mobility period length must be of minimum 2 months (60 days) to a maximum of 12 months (360 days) per academic year with no interruptions. The University of Catania accepts Erasmus+ and international train-eeship incoming students both within inter-institutional Erasmus+ traineeship agreements already signed between the sending institution and UniCt, and within ad-personam Erasmus/international traineeship agreements. In both cases, a pre-acceptance letter issued by the hosting department in Catania has to be obtained by the foreign student after the online application, in order to get the final acceptance letter from the UniCt International Mobility Office (IMO).

Starting from the second semester 2017/2018, both Erasmus+ and international students inter-ested in having a traineeship mobility at the University of Catania can search and find the open po-sitions available in each department in a database aimed at promoting the calls for application and facilitating their incoming traineeship procedures. The new Traineeships Database is accessible on line at: <………> (Call a.y. 2017/18 – second semester).

Mobility procedures

Application and acceptance procedures

If interested in doing a traineeship mobility at the University of Catania, foreign students must search for available traineeship offers according to their field of study/areas of research, to choose the suitable position and to apply online at <…>.

The on line application is processed and, if selected by the hosting department, the student receives a pre-acceptance letter in a couple of weeks.

Selected student’s home university International Relations/Erasmus+ office must then send an email to the International Mobility Office of the University of Catania (IMO) and to the International Didactic Unit of the hosting Department in Catania (IDU) with her/his nomination for an Eras-mus+/International Traineeship Mobility.

IMO and IDU contacts are available on the right side of this page.

If the application is submitted for a traineeship position reserved for partner university within Erasmus+ bilateral traineeship or international cooperation agreements, the student will receive the formal acceptance letter from the IMO.

If the application is submitted for a traineeship position not reserved for partner university within Erasmus+ bilateral traineeship or international cooperation agreements, she/he must send to the International Mobility Office of the University of Catania (IMO) the Ad personam Erasmus Traineeship Agreement or the Ad personam International Traineeship Agreement already signed (please use the forms available below). After having received this document, the IMO will send the formal acceptance letter and the countersigned Ad personam Erasmus/International Traineeship Agreement.

The Learning Agreement for Traineeship has then to be signed, both for Erasmus+ and for In-ternational traineeship, at least 15 days before the foreseen mobility by the International Didactic Unit of the hosting department in Catania (IDU).

The Ad personam Erasmus+ Traineeship Agreement / Ad personam International Traineeship Agreement is the document signed at institutional level between the University of Catania legal representative, the sending university legal representative and the student.

The Learning Agreement for Traineeship is the document signed at departmental level ruling each single aspect of the traineeship.
