TRANSPORT

Catania’s Fontanarossa Airport is located only 15 minutes from the city centre and is well served by city transport.

Provided that the "AMT Alibus Service" leaves from the airport to the City Centre every 20 minutes (from 5.00 am to midnight), applying the metropolitan bus fare (€ 1,00), participants can easily join on their residence. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the entrance of the airport and stamped inside the bus.

ACCOMODATION

Professors will be hosted at the “Stesicorea Palace” Hotel. The timetable of your arrival will be communicated to the hotel staff. Please consult the hotel web site in order to find detailed information on rooms and facilities: www.stesicoreapalace.it .

Students will be hosted at the Agorà Hostel for thirteen nights, checking in on Sunday afternoon/evening, June 9^th, and checking out on Saturday morning, June 22^nd.  The timetable of your arrival will be communicated to the Hostel staff.

SUMMER SCHOOL

All the students should register on Monday, June 10^th  at 9.00 am.

Lectures will be held at Palazzo Centrale, Piazza Università 2 (Aula A2).

On June 13^th a technical visit and experts meeting will be done to C.A.R.A. (Centro per l’Accoglienza dei Richiedenti Asilo – Help Centre for Refugees) at Mineo.

On June 14^th lectures will be held at Cortile Platamone – Culture House of Municipality of Catania, via Landolina 11.

On June 17^th lectures will be held at the Department of Political and Social Sciences (Centro per gli Studi sul Mondo Islamico Contemporaneo e l'Africa – Study Centre of Contemporary Islamic World and Africa  - CoSMICA), Via Vittorio Emanuele II, 8

On June 20^th a technical visit will be done to I.S.I.S.C. (International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences) at Siracusa.

MEALS AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The extracurricular activities expressly organized for all the foreign students and professors include: all lunches and dinners, a multi-ethnic dinner, a farewell cocktail, an excursion to historical city centre and to Naturalistic Research Centre on Etna Vulcan organized by ESN and AEGEE students’ associations. The first day dinner (June 9^th) will be provided at the Agorà Hostel Restaurant also for late arrivals. Detailed programme will be provided.
