Research Centres

The Research centres are established by the Rector’s decree submitted by the researchers and the teaching staff, after the approval of a complex procedure.

Some of them, as agreed, can benefit from public and private financings.

Moreover, in Catania there are also the institutes of the CNR (the National Research Council), which is a public organization; its main duty is to carry out, promote, spread, and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of the country.
