The Mobility Management
The Mobility Management Office (MOMACT) of the University of Catania aims at promoting the culture of sustainable mobility among students, employees and citizens as well. The main objectives of the proposed actions are: university bus services going from “Santa Sofia” parking space to the city; economic incentives to the utilization of public transports; a bike-sharing system, as well as other experimental services, such as “Pro.Bici” and “Pi.per.”, that lead the way to students and employees towards a sustainable transport system.
“Pi.per.” (Home-university personalized plan)
The MOMACT has started the Pi.Per. service (Personalized plan of a home -university sustainable transport) for the students and employees of the university. The service allows to be informed on alternative ways to transport. The Personalized Plan can be requested by e-mail (momact@unict.it) or by phone (+39.095.7307820). A brief interview can be scheduled on demand, over the phone or at work, about habits and transportation needs. According to the information received, few days after a personalized plan shall be elaborated, with useful suggestions about a system of transports from home to university, for the benefit of both individuals and the community as a whole.
Assisted Pedal-Bike
The MOMACT offers an experimental service of pedal assisted electric bike which represents an alternative way of transport for the employees. The pedal assisted bike can be used like a normal bike, with access to Limited Traffic Zones in urban areas, and therefore, can be parked anywhere, even on sidewalks, and no driving licence or helmet are required.
The service is active from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
