International Relations Office
The International Relations Office aims at developing and confirming the University of Catania international dimension. It prominently collaborates with other strategic Divisions such as Didactic Division, Research Division and the School of Excellence with the purpose of enhancing the Internationalization process as a basic development point of the University of Catania.
In particular:
-
it increases the number of cooperation agreements with foreign universities in order to enhance incoming and outgoing mobility at all levels for students, postgraduates, professors and administrative staff members;

it coordinates the participation to mobility, research and cooperation international projects;
-
it supports and counsels professors interested in submitting proposals within international projects;
-
it administrates the University of Catania participation to Higher Education and Research International networks such as EPUF, Santander Group and Anna Lindh Foundation, also running EMUNI Summer Schools and Souk.
The office is organised in two units operating in synergy with respect to the above mentioned objectives: International Mobility and International Cooperation.

International Mobility
It deals with the main European and extra-European programmes for students, post-graduates, professors and administrative staff members aiming at studying, training and teaching in universities, companies and other international structures.
In particular, within the European Programme LLP (Lifelong Learning Programme) it deals with the participation of the University of Catania to theErasmus Programme, a European Community Programme aiming at cooperation in the education sector, which gives, through Erasmus action, the possibility to grant university students with scholarships in order to attend university courses abroad and pass exams or to do research for the final paper with the help of a tutor.
In particular, through the LLP Erasmus Study Action, it provides students with mobility scholarships to study in universities around Europe. It also coordinates the main programmes dealing with professional training periods for students and graduates in companies and institutions abroad. Furthermore, it welcomes foreign incoming students providing them with information and assistance support.

International Cooperation
It deals with scientific cooperation agreements between the University of Catania and foreign Universities. It also communicates with, manages and provides technical/operative assistance to those interested in presenting project proposals within European and extra-European programmes, National and International cooperation programmes promoting didactics and research actions.
In particular it deals with:

Education and Training programmes managed by the EACEA (LLP Programme, Culture, Europe for Citizens, Youth in Action, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus IV, Media) and bilateral cooperation.

External cooperation programmes managed by the European Commission (EuropeAid programmes for Mediterranean, China and India; ALFA III)
-
International cooperation National programmes managed by CRUI, MIUR and MAE.
It is in charge, every year, of the realization of the ECTS International Prospectus (Information Package) and finally offers consulting services on post-lauream specialization programmes, research programmes, pre-lauream university courses, summer university courses, English language courses and internships in the USA.
Moreover, the cooperation unit organizes international events with particular interest given to priority areas (Mediterranean, China) and is involved in the organization of summer schools in the mainframe of Mediterranean activities.
