International Networks

 

The University of Catania is involved in a series of international networks sharing the task of promoting cooperation with partner universities in order to achieve the harmonization of  European dimension of Higher Education. Here there are those networks with which the relationships are directly managed by the International Relations Office.

 

 

imageEuromed Permanent University Forum – EPUF


The EPUF is a network representing the 37 Euro-Mediterranean countries. Established in Tampere (Finland) in 2006,  it aims at internationalization in order to:

 

  • achieve the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education Area (EMHEA);

  • encourage multiculturalism;

  • enhance collaboration and dialogue between region’s educational institutions and their cultural traditions;

  • promote a sustainable development of scientific and technological exchange, in which education and civil society are also involved.

image Santander Group 


The Santander Group is an European University Network comprising almost 40 members from 16 European countries, founded in May 1992 in Spain with the aim of establishing special academic, cultural and socio-economic ties and of setting up specific and advanced facilities as well as privileged information and exchange channels. The Group was also created to encourage contacts between universities and their surrounding communities/ regions on matters related to social and technological development.

The main objectives are:

  • promote and encourage joint educational, research, and lifelong learning projects among members of the Santander Group;

  • facilitate and foster the mobility of students, academics and administrative staff within the network through dedicated exchange programmes;

  • promote Master’s and Ph.D. courses and encourage establishment of joint programmes; 

  • exchange experience and knowledge in order to contribute to the development of policies and strategies surrounding the European Higher Education Area;

  • encourage  joint social, cultural and sports activities;

  • develop and popularise modern approaches to teaching and research.

image Anna Lindh Foundation 


The Anna Lindh Foundation was launched in 2005 to bring people together from across the Mediterranean basin and improve mutual respect between cultures. The main objectives are:

 

  • support across fields action impacting on mutual perceptions, among people of different cultures and beliefs, as well as develop a region-wide Network of over 3000 civil society organisations.

  • facilitate civil society actions within the Euro-Mediterranean Region in priority fields affecting the capacity of individuals and groups to share values and live together. 

  • focus on activities in essential fields for human and social dialogue: Education and Youth; Culture and Arts; Peace and Co-existence; Values, Religion and Spirituality; Cities and Migration; Media.
