Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) 2007/2013 (Website)
The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) enables individuals at all stages of their lives to pursue stimulating learning opportunities across Europe. It is an umbrella programme integrating various educational and training initiatives, divided in four sectorial sub-programmes and four so called 'transversal' programmes.
The sectorial sub-programmes focus on different stages of education and training and continues previous programmes. The most populars are Erasmus (Higher Education) and Leonardo da Vinci (Vocational Training), but also:
ERASMUS INTENSIVE
An Intensive Programme (IP) is a short programme of study which brings together students and teaching staff from higher education institutions of at least three participating countries. It can last from 10 continuous full days to 6 weeks of subject related work.
An IP aims to: encourage efficient and multinational teaching of specialist topics; enables students and teachers to work together in multinational groups; allows members of the teaching staff to exchange views on teaching content and new curricula approaches.

COMENIUS
The Comenius programme focuses on the first phase of education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools. It is relevant for all members of the education community: pupils, teachers, local authorities, parents associations, non-government organizations, teacher training institutes, universities and all other educational staff.

JEAN MONET
The Jean Monnet programme aims at stimulating teaching, research and reflection in the field of European integration studies at higher education level within and outside the European Community.

GRUNDTVIG
The Grundtvig programme focuses on the teaching and study needs of those in adult education and alternative education streams, as well as the institutions and organizations delivering these services. Supporting lifelong learning and mobility in this way also tackles Europe’s ageing population problem.

TRANSVERSAL PROGRAMME
The transversal programme aim to complement the sectorial sub-programmes and to ensure that they achieve the best results possible. They aim to promote European cooperation in fields covering two or more of the sub-programmes. In addition they seek to promote quality and transparency of Member States' education and training systems.

Culture Programme 2007/2013 (Website)

The aim of the multi-annual Culture programme is to encourage and support cultural cooperation within Europe in order to bring the European common cultural heritage to the fore. The Programme proposes funding opportunities to all cultural sections and all categories of cultural operators contributing to the development of cultural cooperation at European level, with a view to encouraging the emergence of European citizenship.
The programme mainly promotes:

transnational mobility of cultural players;

transnational circulation of artistic and cultural works and products;

intercultural dialogue and exchanges.

Europe for Citizens 2007/2013 (Website)

The aim of this programme is to bring Europe closer to its citizens and to enable them to participate fully in European construction.
Through this programme, citizens have the opportunity to be involved in transnational exchanges and cooperation activities, contributing to developing a sense of belonging to common European ideals and encouraging the process of European integration.

Youth In Action 2007-2013 (Website)

Youth in Action is the Programme the European Union has set up for young people. It aims to inspire a sense of active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping Union's future.
It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU's borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background: Youth in Action is a Programme for everybody.

TEMPUS IV 2007-2013 (Website)
TEMPUS is the European Union’s programme which supports the modernization of higher education in the EU's surrounding area.
Tempus promotes institutional cooperation involving European Union and Partner Countries and focuses on the reform and modernization of Higher Education systems in Partner Countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the Mediterranean region.

ERASMUS MUNDUS 2007-2013 (Website)
Erasmus Mundus is a Higher Education cooperation and mobility programme aiming to enhance the quality of European Higher Education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries.
In addition, it contributes to the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in Third Countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries.

MEDIA PROGRAMME 2007-2013 (Website)
The MEDIA Programme comprises a series of support measures for the European audiovisual industry focusing on: training professionals; developing production projects; distributing films and audiovisual programmes; promoting films and audiovisual programmes; supporting film festivals; new technologies.
The MEDIA Mundus Programme capitalizes on the growing interest and the opportunities offered by global cooperation of the audiovisual industry.
It increases consumer choice by bringing more culturally diverse products to European and international markets. It also creates new business opportunities for European and International audiovisual professionals around the globe.

EU-ICI ECP Education Cooperation Programme Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Republic of Korea (Website)
The European Commission has set up bilateral agreements among the European Union and some industrialized countries outside Europe to fund innovative projects focusing on academic cooperation and students mobility.
Programmes under these agreements give support to consortia of higher education and training institutions working together to improve their educational services, to compare and modernize curricula and to develop joint study programmes with recognition of credits and qualifications.
The ICI-ECP Education Programme refers to EU cooperation with Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the Republic of Korea in the field of Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training.
The programme includes regional and bilateral cooperation projects based on joint EU-Partner Countries funding and mutual agreement on the selection of Higher Education partnerships.
EUROPEAID Programmes
ALFA III 2007-2013 (Website)
ALFA is a co-operation programme among Higher Education Institutions of the European Union and Latin America.
ALFA III retains the original objective of the previous phases of the ALFA Programme, that is, to promote Higher Education in Latin America as a means to contribute to the economic and social development of the region.
