CAPITT – the University Service Centre for Continuing Education, Professional Training and Innovation and Technology Transfer – has been established within the University of Catania in order to promote and develop the University’s role in the interaction between Research and Industry and the Continuing Education and Professional Training for the public and private sector.
CAPITT was created in 2010 by the merger and takeover of the existing CARIP and the Industrial Liaison Office: the Centre aims to promote and support Research Innovation and Technology Transfer through the creation of spin-offs and patent licensing for the development of local region. Innovation projects, the accomplishment, the enhancement and the marketing of research results will definitely play a crucial role.
In particular, CAPITT promotes Innovation by offering its professional support throughout the whole creation process of a new “business”, giving information and advice on how to start up and overcome both national and international regulations for the patents to be licensed, along with spin-offs and other ways of transferring research results to an industrial project.
In actual fact, the Centre publishes the “Expertise Yearbook”, a priceless catalogue about works performed by individual researchers and research groups of the University of Catania. The professional selection of international, national and regional public announcements has also been identified as another good way of raising funds for the achievement of those projects done in partnership with SMEs, which all aim for the innovation of technology and production processes.
Relating to the Continuing Education and Professional Training, CAPITT organizes training courses for working people or for those who wish to go through a re-qualification programme. This particular task is mainly accomplished in partnership with private educational organizations involved in private or public work announcements.
