This International Prospectus is intended to provide all relevant information on the variety of training courses offered by the University of Catania for Italian and European students.
The interest of our University towards the European, Mediterranean and other foreign countries, witnessed by the increasing number of exchanges of students and professors and by their research activities, is represented by the contribution offered for the promotion of a new culture based on cooperation and peace.
The International Prospectus aims to present to professors and young students a "laboratory" in which the ancient knowledge of the Mediterranean culture meets the new technologies in order to offer an original and advanced training experience.
Our goal is to provide young students, from all over Europe, the opportunity to exchange experience with our students and to develop human and scientific resources similarly to the experience shared within the Cultural Community of the Medieval Universities.
For these reasons, we would like to present the didactic and scientific structures of our University along with the facilities and accommodation services, within the context of our hospitable town open to cultural exchanges, which has been for centuries the meeting point of relations among Europe, Africa and Asia.
The University of Catania, with all its members, worked on the revision and the reorganization of its study courses, either identifying the ways and the topic areas more interesting for students, or establishing the didactic choices in line with their selected objectives.
A particular attention, in the building of a new didactic model, has been given to teaching planning units, able to guarantee the best balance between the needs of a qualified education and the development of the students' overall personality.
The wish expressed by all teaching staff is to guarantee the best achievement of students' educational objectives, and the complete realization of their hopes in the field of professional and cultural education along with concrete job perspectives.
Aware that this presentation is on one side an invitation to attend our University whereas on the other the proposal of a stimulating experience for achieving educational growth in an ancient town rich in history and tradition, I have the pleasure to give you my warmest welcome in the Siculorum Gymnasium.
